HURRICANE SEASON
June marks the start of hurricane season in Florida
Important terms to know:
Hurricane Watch - A hurricane is possible within 36 hours. Stay turned to the radio and television for more information. The Hurricane Center is tracking the storm and trying to predict where it may come ashore.
Hurricane Warning - A hurricane is expected within 24 hours. You may be told to evacuate.
BE PREPARED!
DISASTER SUPPLY KIT
1. Water - at least 1 gallon daily per person for 3 to 7 days
2. Food - at least enough for 3 or 7 days: non-perishable packaged or canned food, juices, foods for infants or the elderly,
snack foods, non-electric can opener, cooking tools/fuel, paper plates / plastic utensils
3. Blankets / Pillows, etc.,
4. Clothing - Seasonal / Rain Gear/ Sturdy Shoes
5. First Aid Kit / Medicines / Prescription Drugs
6. Special Items - for Babies and the Elderly
7. Toiletries / Hygiene items / Moisture wipes
8. Flashlight / Batteries
9. Radio - Battery operated and NOAA weather radio
10. Telephones - Fully charged cell phone with extra battery and a traditional (not cordless) telephone set
11. Cash (some small bills), Credit Cards (banks & ATMs may not be available for a while)
12. Keys
13. Toys, Books and Games
14. Important documents - in a waterproof container or watertight resealable plastic bag
15. Insurance, Medical Records, Bank Account Numbers, Social Security Card, etc
16. Tools - keep a set with you during the storm
17. Vehicle fuel tanks filled
18. Pet care items: proper identification, immunization records, medications ample supply, food and water, a carrier or cage
muzzle and leash
TIPS FOR PROPERTY STORM PREPARATION

2. Reminder to turn off your automatic irrigation systems (no need to water during a hurricane)
3. Bring in loose items and any Flags
4. If you see an obstructed storm drain, let the HOA know
5. Storm shutters: Per BRDA Stds and Rules, storm shutters may be positioned at least a week before the storm and should be removed or opened no later than 10 days after the storm (unless there are mitigating circumstances and the HOA or Fairway Management (paula@fairwaymgmt.com) has been informed/approved
Note: The pool will been closed during storms and open once the chemical levels are checked and balanced.
